FIRST FOCUS
THE FIRST STEP
As the saying goes, “Every journey begins with the first step.” In other words, while we often come up with great plans, many of those plans never come to fruition simply because we fail to begin them. We talk and dream big, but most of the time, nothing ever comes from it. Sometimes all that is necessary is for us to start doing something or writing something or saying something in order for planned changes to come about. [ more+]

THANK YOU
I was overwhelmed by all of the love and support we received through the illness and death of Geoffrey. He was touched by all of the visits and calls while he was in the hospital. He felt very loved in the last days of his life. Christine and I were grateful for all the food, cards, and love shown to us. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family.
I was especially touched by all of the visits of the church staff and others who dropped everything to be there when we had need. We are, also, grateful to the choirs for singing at the funeral and embracing Geoffrey into their fellowship.
Thank you First Baptist,
Irene Maylan
- HOPE FOR HAITI - For the last 8 years, we have helped fund the Summer Music School (held at the Christian University of Northern Haiti) which is training young leaders and Christian musicians. From violin lessons to a new well and clean water, from brownies mixed in a washtub to music theory class, from cleaning of mildewed instruments to providing the ONLY air-conditioned room---FBC has helped in many ways to help the music school continue!! Praise to the Lord for His direction and blessings on our efforts to help in one little corner of the world. Haiti is the only 3rd world country in the Western Hemisphere – with unimaginable poverty and desperation. But there is hope there. Hope is in Jesus Christ. Whereas music is a language of hope and love in Haiti, Haitian Christians are using music to proclaim the Gospel. Our church has been busy helping equip them to be even more effective and has shown our love in very tangible and encouraging ways. You can play a part! Visit fbctlh.org/hopeforhaiti for more information.
