THE NEXT STEP
I’m reminded of the old saying that every musician knows by heart. “When you hit a wrong note, it’s the next note you hit that determines the rest of the performance.” As every musician knows, wrong notes inevitably get played, and when they do, nothing can be done about them. Musicians have to retain their focus and concentrate on the rest of the piece.
There’s a lesson there for us in terms of our discipleship. How many people do you know who are paralyzed by their past? Regardless of the opportunities that stand before them, they never are able to seize them because of their preoccupation with past mistakes. [ more+]

- Theme: “Church as It Should Be” What is the church? Who came up with this idea? What does it mean to be the Church? We’re looking at the early church in Acts and discussing what that means to us today.

As the beginning of a new year brings the desire to take a fresh look at your priorities and make preparations for a successful year, let’s look closely at the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry, which he began when he was about 30 years old, and how he prepared to change the world. All young adults are invited to Veritas on Wednesdays @ 7:15PM in A-317. Check out fbctlh.org/veritas for more info.
- January 12 - All groups will meet in the Chason building Conference room @ 9:30AM to roll bandages for the Ghana hospital. Bring a sack lunch; beverages and desserts will be provided.
- February 9 - All groups will meet at the Florida Baptist Children’s Home administration building @ 9:30AM to decorate and fill Valentine’s Day gift bags for the children in residence. All materials will be provided. Contact Beckie Maynard for more info.

2010 ALTAR FLOWERS
Please take this opportunity to check the flower board in the Welcome Center. There are many Sundays open for you to place flowers in honor or in memory of a loved one or for a special occasion. Your gift of flowers will be appreciated by all, especially those who receive the small bouquets each Monday morning made from Sunday's flowers.
- Florida Baptist Children’s Home January Request : Personal care products
- Our January request includes such products as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, bath gel, bar soap, deodorant, etc. We want to help the children develop good personal care habits.
- Church volunteers are needed to help Weekday Education Parents find parking spaces and to assist them entering and exiting the Church parking lot. The need for assistance is Monday through Friday, 7:30-8:30AM and 4:30-5:30PM. Sign-up sheets are in each SMBS department, or you can contact Joyce in the church office at x121.
