Since 2002, First Baptist has helped fund the Summer Music School, held at the Christian University of Northern Haiti, which is training young leaders and Christian musicians. From violin lessons to a new well and clean water, from brownies mixed in a washtub to music theory class, from cleaning of mildewed instruments to providing the ONLY air-conditioned room---we have helped in many ways to help the music school continue!! Praise to the Lord for His direction and blessings on our efforts to help in one little corner of the world. Haiti is the only 3rd world country in the Western Hemisphere – with unimaginable poverty and desperation. But there is hope there. Hope is in Jesus Christ. Whereas music is a language of hope and love in Haiti, Haitian Christians are using music to proclaim the Gospel. Our church has been busy helping equip them to be even more effective and has shown our love in very tangible and encouraging ways.
You can help: Thanks to all those who participated in our February fundraiser. If you would like to go to Haiti to help at the music school this summer (2 weeks in July), please contact Janet Ray (893.4207).
![]() In light of the recent tragic earthquake in Haiti, we would also like to ask you to give what you are able to the relief efforts. You can give online or by phone to disaster relief funds to assist the people of Haiti through the Southern Baptist Convention's Baptist Global Relief fund (866.974.5623) or through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (800.352.8741). Designate the relief funds as being for Haiti Earthquake Relief.
Giving through our Baptist organizations allows relief to be provided through the hands of our missionaries and allows them to share the love of Christ as they distribute relief supplies.
Also, funds given through our Winter Missions Offering will be used in places like Haiti and many other locations around the world and throughout the year. We have not yet reached our goal for this year's Winter Missions Offering and you can still make contributions to that offering. |
