You Need A Friend
July 6 - July 27

Every church considers itself to be "friendly." But people today aren't really looking for those kinds of churches. They're looking more for friends in those churches. If we are to realize God's mission for our church, then this business of friendship is a good place to begin.

Jonah: God's Stubborn Prophet
August 3 - August 24

Have you ever been angry with God because He didn't do things your way? If so, join the "Jonah Club." Chances are that our anger didn't linger as long as Jonah's. But then, God doesn't have to go to the lengths He did with Jonah to get our attention. Or does He? That is the question that really does deserve our deepest consideration.

Here...forLife!
March 30 - May 25

First Baptist Church has been a cornerstone church in Tallahassee for over 150 years.  Amazing parallels exist between the growth of our community and that of our church.  Our location in the center of the city has afforded us a remarkable platform for witness that we have been faithful to employ.  As each time frame has presented its unique challenges, we have risen to meet them in the power of Christ, our chief Cornerstone. That’s the foundation upon which we rest, and now is our time to build upon it.  We are “here” not just for this time but “for life.”

A Living Lord
February 24 - March 23

When you look at the resurrection texts in the Gospels, you wonder how anyone could have missed the Risen Jesus.  But then you consider how the same thing happens today and you begin to understand how such a discovery requires our openness to him.  Like other holidays, even Easter can come upon us before we know it.  But what a tragedy when that happens and people haven’t prepared adequately to see Jesus and experience his Easter power.  Don’t let that happen to you.  Join us in worship as we walk with Jesus to Calvary, the Empty Tomb, and most importantly, beyond.

February 24: "Now Can You See?" (John 9:35-41)
March 2: "The Odds Are In Your Favor" (John 11:45-53)
March 9: Guest Speaker, Jim Burton, North American Mission Board
March 16: Palm Sunday, "Jesus' Palm Sunday Answer" (John 12:20-26
March 21: Good Friday, "Glordy to No Other" (Isaiah 42:8)
March 23: Easter Sunday, "Where You Can Find Jesus" (Matthew 28:1-10)

Beliefs that Build Community
January 6 - February 17

The coming days will be filled with excitement as we position ourselves for extending our witness into the community.  Our church’s vision is to grow up and grow out.  But as everyone knows, buildings are only good as their foundations.  Actions flow from beliefs.  So, let’s consider what the essence of our belief is in order that the community we endeavor to build will honor Christ and strengthen our church.

January 13: “Creation: No Roll of the Dice” (2 Timothy 1:8-10)

How Great Our Joy
December 2 - 24, 2007

We speak of joy a lot in faith, but too often we confuse it with mere happiness.  There’s a big difference.  Ironically, many people don’t greet this season with either, but the promise of Immanuel reminds us that while happiness may come and go, joy stays with us because of all that God has brought to pass in Jesus.

The Paradoxical Commandments

If everything were simple, each day would go so much easier.  But things rarely go that way.  Most of life is complicated and ambiguous.  Fear not; God gives a clear word that speaks to the paradox with wisdom and hope.

Life's Big Questions
July 29 - August 19, 2007

Whoever said it first said it best. “Life is difficult.” Part of the difficulty lies in the questions life poses. They’re big questions to be sure. But faith does not fear life’s big questions, because faith has big answers.

August 12: “What Do I Believe?” (2 Timothy 1:8-12)

Making God's Grade
April 15-29, 2007

Most of us would say that we’re “good people.” We don’t commit crimes. We treat others fairly. But is that enough? What does it take to make God’s grade? Too much is at stake for you not to know the answer to those questions.
