Since 2002, First Baptist has helped fund the Summer Music School to train young leaders and Christian musicians, held at the Christian University of Northern Haiti. From violin lessons to a new well and clean water, from brownies mixed in a washtub to music theory class, from cleaning of mildewed instruments to providing the ONLY air-conditioned room---we have helped in many ways to help the music school continue!!  Click here to see photos.

Praise to the Lord for His direction and blessings on our efforts to help in one little corner of the world.  Haiti is the only 3rd world country in the Western Hemisphere – with unimaginable poverty and desperation.  But there is hope there.  Hope is in Jesus Christ. Whereas music is a language of hope and love in Haiti, Haitian Christians are using music to proclaim the Gospel. Our church has been busy helping equip them to be even more effective and has shown our love in very tangible and encouraging ways.

Each year, Janet Ray hosts the "Hope for Haiti" fundraiser to support the music camp at UNCH.  This event helped enable a team from First Baptist to travel to northern Haiti and teach at the camp in July 2012.  We would love for you to be involved, whether that includes fundraising support, donating instruments, going to Haiti to teach music, or anything in between.  Mark your calendars for this year's fundraiser - March 2, 2013, from 11:00AM until 2:00PM.  Tickets are available for purchase in your SMBS classes, or in the Connect Center on Sundays.  For more information, please contact Janet Ray (893.4207).
