Here...for Life! Prayer
Father, we join together as members and friends of FBC to pray seriously for our church and the future of your work at FBC. We acknowledge our need for you to help us in this capital campaign, for you to be at the heart of what we are about and for our hearts and minds to be teachable and open to you.

We pray that this will be a time if unity and joy, work and sacrifice, growth and transformation, as we serve you together to strengthen the ministry of this church for generations to come.

Father, what do you want to do through me for the future of FBC?

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Lesson Two
Conducting Family Business

This week we learn of ownership, partnership and stewardship attitudes.
Questions to consider:
Are we possessors or owners of what has been entrusted to us?
If God owns everything, why are we asked to give?
What is the proper attitude toward giving?
Does faithful stewardship lead to blessing?

Sunday, April 20, 2008
Lesson Three
The Symbolism of Giving,
“Why Money Matters”

Sunday, April 27, 2008
Lesson Four
The Practice of Stewardship,
“Lifestyle Stewardship”

How to Decide on a
Lifestyle Stewardship Commitment

PRAY—Seek God’s leadership in determining the specific
amount God would have you give. Pray individually and
with family or a close friend.
DISCUSS—with family or a friend. Talk about your prayer
experiences regarding your gift. Reassess your lifestyle to
find the gift that God wants you to give.
PRIORITIZE—Evaluate all the ways you invest your
financial resources. What priority should your church and
its ministries have at this time? How will you re-order
priorities in order to make your commitment?
COMMIT—Trust God to sustain you in your giving
decision, just as you trusted Him to lead you in this
decision. Reallocate your resources and give a gift that
has value for you.

The Two Tenors - A Sacred Concert in White Tie and Jeans
Sunday, April 20, 2008
Whether your musical taste leans toward soaring sacred arias or laid back contemporary Christian- or maybe something in between — you will enjoy sharing this delightful hour of music with The Two Tenors. Barry Craft is an operatic tenor and his sidekick, Ben Owens, a talented young contemporary singer in blue jeans. They will inspire, entertain, and amuse with their music. This talented pair has presented a number of concerts at First Baptist over the past several years and we are very excited to have them return. Hear them sing in both morning worship services on April 20 then come back at 5:00 to enjoy their concert. Admission is free, so this is a great chance to invite friends and neighbors to church with you. A love offering will be collected.

Sermon Series:
" Here...for Life! "

First Baptist Church has been a cornerstone church in Tallahassee for over 150 years.  Amazing parallels exist between the growth of our community and that of our church.  Our location in the center of the city has afforded us a remarkable platform for witness that we have been faithful to employ.  As each time frame has presented its unique challenges, we have risen to meet them in the power of Christ, our chief Cornerstone. That’s the foundation upon which we rest, and now is our time to build upon it.  We are “here” not just for this time but “for life.”
