Here...for Life! Prayer
Father, we join together as members and friends of FBC to pray seriously for our church and the future of your work at FBC. We acknowledge our need for you to help us in this capital campaign, for you to be at the heart of what we are about and for our hearts and minds to be teachable and open to you.

We pray that this will be a time if unity and joy, work and sacrifice, growth and transformation, as we serve you together to strengthen the ministry of this church for generations to come.

Father, what do you want to do through me for the future of FBC?

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Sermon Series:
" Here...for Life! "

First Baptist Church has been a cornerstone church in Tallahassee for over 150 years.  Amazing parallels exist between the growth of our community and that of our church.  Our location in the center of the city has afforded us a remarkable platform for witness that we have been faithful to employ.  As each time frame has presented its unique challenges, we have risen to meet them in the power of Christ, our chief Cornerstone. That’s the foundation upon which we rest, and now is our time to build upon it.  We are “here” not just for this time but “for life.”

March 30: "Keeping Hope Alive" (1 Peter 1:3-9)
April 6: "Is Anything Really Free?" (2 Samuel 24:18-25)
April 13: "How Does God Prompt You?" (Exodus 25:1-9)
April 20: "God's Secret Servants" (Matthew 6:1-4)
April 27: "The Better Way" (Acts 20:32-35)
May 4: "A Vow To Be Kept" (Psalm 76:11)
May 11: "A Mother Near The Cross" (John 19:25b-27)
May 18: "Listen and Live" (Proverbs 1:32-33)

Springtime Tallahassee
Is FBC’s “Serving in His Name” Hospitality Venue worth it? All those volunteers, all those volunteers hours, all the loving hearts and helping hands representing Christ and FBC?
Last Saturday, FBC’s Baby Comfort room, headed by Beth Jacobs, served 87 children and families. Hundreds used our rest rooms. Our conference room became a hospitality suite, serving guests all day long. Our students gave cups of cold water in guess who’s name. Becky Liner organized about ten dozen FBC volunteers.
A couple with twins, new to Tallahassee, came downtown for Springtime. Came to the Baby Comfort room on Saturday. Returned Sunday morning for children’s Sunday School and Worship. The couple was befriended and helped by Tracy Edewaard, a faithful FBC member. The father said: “I didn’t know there could be so many people to love my child.”
Is what we volunteer to do for Springtime worth it?
You decide.

To our loving and gracious church family:
Lynette and I want to thank you for your overwhelming love and support these past almost three years. From Hurricane Katrina to loss of jobs and homes, our family here at First Baptist was a constant reminder of Christ’s unconditional love and support. You have stood by us through very difficult times and celebrated with us with the birth of Eli and Lily. Words cannot adequately express the depth of gratitude we have for FBC Tallahassee and neither are there enough ways to express the joy we have found by serving with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you, for the love you have shared with us. Until we meet again…
The Hallocks - Isaac, Lynette, Abbi, Eli, & Lily

Hope for Haiti

Dear FBC Folks:
It’s another WOW!! The 4th annual “Hope for Haiti” fund raiser was a tremendous success! We had a huge attendance with 130 people eating lunch, listening to music and bidding at the first silent auction of Haitian arts and crafts. Simply, we all were having fun! The wonderful thing was that everyone at First Baptist Church had an opportunity to be involved in and work together on a world mission project.

Thanks to everyone who attended, helped or contributed. Special thanks to the ministerial staff, missions committee, SS superintendants, Rhonda Jones, Mary York, Sue Lee, JoAnn Hunt, Cindy Fernald, Linda Simth, Judy Bishop, Paula Chafin, Jim Pullen, FBC musicians playing in the music studio, Dr. Dale Olsen and his students playing Carribean music on the front porch...I wish I could thank everyone personally. There were 51 people in various shifts over the three hours working that day alone and space is limited here.

We made $5,800 which will buy a new well pump for the Christian University of Haiti (Baptist) and fund the summer music camp which is also leadership training for young Haitian Christians. Pooling our money, time, prayer and raising awareness of the needs of this very poor country we have made a difference in the world for Him. To God be the Glory!

Thank you again, Janet Ray.
