Easter Sermon Series:
" A Living Lord "

When you look at the resurrection texts in the Gospels, you wonder how anyone could have missed the Risen Jesus. But then you consider how the same thing happens today and you begin to understand how such a discovery requires our openness to him. Like other holidays, even Easter can come upon us before we know it. But what a tragedy when that happens and people haven't prepared adequately to see Jesus and experience his Easter power. Don't let that happen to you. Join us in worship as we walk with Jesus to Calvary, the Empty Tomb, and most importantly, beyond.

Dear First Baptist Church Family,
The words “church family” have never been more appropriate than in the last few weeks. After our mother’s stroke and during her last days as she journeyed on to Heaven, our family held her hand consistently in one of our hands, and you all held our other hands. You cried with us and offered tissues, you laughed with us and shared wonderful memories, you fed us meal after meal after meal and then cleaned up those meals and our homes, you chauffeured children in order to keep their daily schedules consistent, you sat quietly with us, you prayed, you fed us some more, you quoted Scripture, you wrote beautiful cards, you hugged us, and then you fed us again. Our every need was met before we even knew we had a need! You sustained us emotionally, physically, and spiritually, and you never let us forget that God was with us at every moment. The words “thank you” would never be enough, but the words “we love you and thank God for you” come a bit closer. We saw the face of God in your faces and felt His loving embrace in your arms. There is no greater comfort than to know that mom went from our hands into God’s and that He is holding her close today and for eternity.

VPK Program Receives a Perfect Score!
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program helps 4-year-olds be better prepared for kindergarten and every year the State of Florida gives a rating to each VPK program. This year’s ratings are based on the children who left the program last year and are now in kindergarten. First Baptist Church’s Weekday Early Education began its VPK program 3 years ago. A VPK program can score up to 300 points. Last year our score was higher than most schools at a 274. This year we scored a perfect 300! Many thanks to our VPK teachers Joyce Lane and Stephanie Bodiford, assisted by Karen Freeman and Teresa Anderson-Green.
