The Paradoxical Commandments
September 9 - November 11, 2007

Baptism Sunday at Wakulla Springs
October 7, 3:00 pm

A community wide baptism event will be held at Wakulla Springs State Park, where new believers can experience an outdoor spiritual cleansing similar to that of early Christians. Those interested in being baptized, church members, and friends are all invited! Preston Odom will be performing baptisms for First Baptist. Gospel singing, a covered dish dinner, and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ will follow the baptisms. See you at the Springs! For more information, contact Mark Wheeler at 228-3535 or mwheeler1032@hotmail.com.

Trunk’er Treat Volunteers Needed!
Wednesday, October 31

Our children always enjoy this annual evening of fun, games, and costumes! In order to make this event a success, we are looking for volunteers to host with a decorated car trunk or van tailgate and pass out candy, run activity booths and food services, or to donate candy. This is a great way to get your family, friends, or Bible study group involved with our children’s ministry! For more information or to volunteer, contact Preston Odom at x410 or Rhonda Smith at x501.

Plan Ahead for Your Christmas Shoeboxes!
Purchase your Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox packed, wrapped and ready to go,and help our Bells of Praise buy a much-needed new set of handbells.

This year, there is a simple and convenient way for you to send love to a needy child overseas and support our own FBC Handbell Choir at the same time. Our Bells of Praise choir members are preparing complete Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes, packed, wrapped and ready to go for a total cost to you of $35. This price includes the shipping fee requested by Samaritan’s Purse. The boxes will be ready and available in time for collection day on Sunday, November 18. Proceeds go toward the purchase of a new 5-octave set of handbells to replace our 35 year-old set. Call the music office at 222-5470 x201 to order yours now.

Make a Change with Soup Labels!
For many years First Baptist members have been collecting Campbell’s soup labels to send to our missionaries. The missionaries use these to receive various items for their work from the Campbell’s Soup Company -- after school supplies, games, computers, sports equipment, even much needed buses!
Campbell’s Soup Company still plans to continue this program, but they are now requiring that the UPC Bar Code symbol on the back of the soup label be sent in instead of the front label. Be sure to save your bar codes and give them to Jean Fernald or leave them in the church office. This is such an easy way to make a huge difference!

Bud Vases Needed!
The shut in visitation program is in need of bud vases (bud vases only, please). You may drop them off in the front office or place them in the kitchen beside the parlor. Thank you!

Sanctuary Flowers
We have several Sundays available in September and October to place flowers in the sanctuary. Flowers are such a beautiful way to honor a loved one and to magnify the glory of the Lord. Please check the flower board in the visitor center for availability, or call the office 222-5470 x 201.

Wednesday Night, September 26th

We will meet in the CLC at 6:30 pm and ride together to Thomasville Road Baptist Church for the 2007 See You At The Pole Rally. This event begins at 7 pm and ends at 8:30 pm. We will have the students back to FBC by no later than 9 pm. This is a great opportunity to worship with other Christian youths in Tallahassee as well as be built up and encouraged in order to proclaim the name of Christ on your campus. The speaker is Alex Himaya, who has an amazing ability to relate to youth and he is going to be challenging us to be bold and mighty witnesses at school. This is something you won’t want to miss out on and if you have any questions, please contact Brett Brandewie at 222-5470 x413.

Dear Church Fellowship,
Yvonne and I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your wonderful support of our family since the passing of my mother, Catherine M. Barger. Your contacts, telephone calls and cards, coupled with your prayer support, all helped us during this difficult time.
We especially want to thank each and every ministry endeavor directed toward my mother over the past eight years. The men’s Monday morning visitation, the Prayergrams, the Prayer Room prayer petitions and the cards of joy were deeply appreciated by my mother and our family. What a great outreach!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
In Christ,
Jim and Yvonne Barger
